  2. Okay for this speech I thought I did okay. I managed to get a gesture if you saw that. I did dress up as Mr. Rogers and it was fun to rewatch some old episodes of the show while I wrote the speech and ate cereal. I did not look at the class which I will try to do the next speech. Overall everything I looked up about Mr. Rogers was awesome. He defined funding of public broadcasting for Tv shows that had educational purposes and even went the lengths of improving the quality of life for both adolescents to adults alike.

    1. David, your speech brought back a ton of childhood nostalgia which means I automatically loved it. I like how you dressed as Mr Rogers, added a bit of interest to your topic. Your eye contact suffered but your speaking rate and volume were awesome, you spoke very slowly and clearly and varied your tone quite a bit. I think this was one of your stronger speeches, as always, you don't disappoint.

    2. I thought your speech was pretty awesome and I think that it shows how the most important life lessons are easy to understand and can be taught at a young age. I thought it was great that you dressed up as Mr. Rogers that guy is the best.

    3. David I really like all your speeches but this one of yours I could really connect to. I think it was great that you brought back Mr. Rogers. We all grew up with him obviously so you had most of if not everyone connected to your speech. I feel you did a good job.

    4. David I liked your speech although I never watched Mr. Rodgers as a kid I still felt like I could connect to it and I thought you did that well. Like all of your speeches your word choice was great but your eye contact was not that great because you read your manuscript for most of the speech

    5. David I loved your speech. You did a great job! You dressed up as Mr. Rogers, and used things he used to say. It brought back childhood memories I had as a little kid watching Mr. Rogers. Your pace, volume and choice of words was great. I'm always amused by the words you use because they are astounding. You did amazing, nice job!

    6. I think your speech is very interesting. You make good connection to the audiences. It gave me a lesson. This is a good topic. A child's kindness just inspired me. Good job

    7. David, I personally thought this was your best speech. Mr. Rodgers was a major part of my life when I was growing up as was he for many of us I hope. You really had a great emphasis on your pauses and you stressed how much he meant to you. Our eye contact did struggle a little but as usual you really pulled through on the wording that you used to make up for your lack of eye contact. Your overall topic was really great and truly inspiring. The personal story was a nice touch as well. Overall really nice job on this speech. You will go far. Just LOOK UP! :-)

  4. I thought this speech went well. I know my eye contact suffered but I found it easier to remain calm and for my voice not to shake. I liked using the manuscript it helped though I wish I would have practiced gestures or wrote them in to make it more engaging. Wasn't my favorite thing to talk about as I felt like I was lecturing rather than inspiring. I did like my intro about the house and hope it connected with you all as well. Overall I thought this speech was just okay but do think I have come a long way since the beginning of the year.

    6. Alex I enjoyed this speech and I've noticed that you have come a long way since our first speech. At first your voice was shaky but on this speech I did not notice it at all. You seemed very poised and confident. One of the only things to work on is the eye contact.

    8. I really liked your speech. In the beginning, I was a little confused on what your speech as going to be about, but as you spoke, it made way more sense. It was very clear that you practiced a lot for this speech because your pace was great along with your eye contact. You really approached the podium with confidence this time and it was great to see how you improved this semester. Great job!

  5. This speech was not my favorite speech. I decided to do a partially memorized speech so that I could make maximum eye contact which was nice. The only problem with it was that I had a quote planned out for the beginning of my speech but in the fun of showing an example of trust, I completely forgot to use it. There were a few other things that that I missed, small things, that I wanted to say. Towards the end I realized that I forgot those things, most importantly the quote, I tried to jam it all into the conclusion which I personally thought fell apart. The final thing that I wanted to say before I walked off was the quote about putting your trust in others from Ernest Hemingway but I felt like I needed to explain it for some reason. I felt like I was scrambling to find the words that would wrap up what I was trying to say nicely rather than abruptly. Everything went well when I was practicing but I think I panicked at the end and lost a lot of what I was building up to. I decided that I didn't want to have another generic speech that had one format, I wanted to go out with a bang and that's why I decided to involve the audience. When I asked for two volunteers I was honestly expecting to have to pick two people to come up but when I asked about 6 of you did a half stand as if you were ready to get out of your desk, I wasn't expecting that. Overall I think I liked the different format that I tried, it worked well involving the audience and I received more participation than I was expecting. I could start to see towards the end of my speech when I was rambling on and was losing the class's attention so I decided on the spot to just stop which was clearly not the greatest ending. I just wish I hadn't gone back to try and cover what I missed and just ended with the quote like I had practiced. Special thanks to Sam and Vincent by the way for stepping up and volunteering.

    1. Bryan, as much as it sounds like you didn't enjoy this speech, I thought it was very interesting. Making the audience participate was a really strong point in this, it made me pay a lot closer attention than somebody just standing up there talking. The eye contact was great and it's impressive that you managed to memorize a lot of that. You were smiling and had great facial expression most of the time, I couldn't tell you were nervous at all. Your conclusion did seem a bit scattered and frayed, but the main message still showed through. I agree on how we all need to trust each other more, and I never really realized previously how much I do trust things on a daily basis, such as my car starting, or being safe at home, etc. My only small criticism was the unorganized ending, but the rest of it was fantastic!

    2. I really liked how you had a lot of audience participation and you moved around a lot. You sounded like you knew everything you were gonna say even when you were reading off the paper. You had a very good pace and good use of pauses. You also had really good stuff to back up your topic. Great job!!

    3. Even though you said you fumbled during your speech it was really hard to tell with us. I think no matter how bad you thought it was it is still really good to try new styles and ways of doing things. You brought in a whole new way of giving a speech to our class and I thought it was pretty great.

    4. Bryan, I really liked your speech this time around. I liked how you changed up the style of your speech and used some other classmates. I think when you did that it got some of our attentions and really got used to pay good attention to what you had to say. You seemed very confident on your speech as well. Overall you had a very good speech.

    5. Your speech really made me second guess myself on how I view trust and how much have I actually been showing it. You made a lot of good points, especially when you said how much better the world would be if one person trusted another and then that got spread on. Like you said, we never really think how much trust we have already, like me going on the bus on the morning and putting my trust in the driver that he will not only take me to my destination but take me their safely. Overall, you were super confident and had good volume and pace, nice job!

    6. Bryan, I thought your speech was excellent. It was nice to see someone moving around up front versus just standing at the podium and reading off a manuscript. I could not tell at all that you had messed up or that you were trying to jam things into your conclusion. Your topic was very relevant and you portrayed it in a fantastic way. You had a good vocal volume and gestures and did not seem nervous at all.

    7. Brian I liked your speech and I really also liked your topic. I also enjoyed being part of your speech for the trust fall. I liked that you interacted with the audience to connect with them. If I was not interacted with I don't think that I would have paid as much attention as I did. Also, great eye contact I liked that you did not read a manuscript the entire time.

    8. I thought your speech was very well done, Bryan. I liked how you took volunteers to demonstrate the trust fall. I liked how you sort of moved around the room versus standing in one spot behind the podium. Your eye contact great and you also seemed like you were very confident in your topic.

    9. Bryan I absolutely loved this speech. I still think about your speech and the meaning of your speech. Having Sam and Vince do the trust fall was a great way to connect to the audience! Moving around the room was also a great addition to your speech it kept me following along and tuned in rather than just standing there. You were very poised, calm, collected, and lastly had your script memorized which was great for your speech. Your speech idea was a great choice even though it seemed you didn't like it very much. Overall you did an outstanding job!

  6. Out of all the speeches we've had this semester, I loved working on this one the most. Hearing everybody's messages is great and everybody has done a fantastic job. While working on this speech, I took the most time and effort and thought compared to the earlier ones. I made decent eye contact but I wish I had used more of the gestures I had written into my manuscript. I thought I used my Powerpoint minimally enough that it wasn't a huge distraction from what I was talking about. For this speech I really tried hard to maintain a louder volume and a slower pace, not sure how everybody else heard it but I believe I did a pretty good job of that, knowing I've struggled with talking too fast in the past. I felt very calm and collected the entire speech, even when sharing personal stories. Overall I think this went very smoothly and if I had to redo it again I don't think I would change anything about it!

    5. Kendra, your topic was truly inspiring. You did a great job on this one. You looked like you practiced this speech a lot and were prepared to use your visual aid. Your eye contact was pretty good but compared to your first speech, it was amazing. During this speech you were a lot easier to hear and you were louder which was nice. You also slowed down at some points which made it easier to understand you and let things sink in. Overall you did a great job, you didn't freak out at all and your visual aid really brought a lot to the table. Great improvement from your first speech. Nice job this year and good luck from now on.

  7. I really enjoyed this speech a lot! I changed my topic a few days before giving my speech because I really was not sure if my original topic would be inspirational enough. I did go online and look at Inspirational speech topics as now I was uncertain of what I should do. I found it very easy to write about negatives and how to stay positive through them all. I only practiced twice, but I did change things up more than once. I thought I started my speech at a good pace with good eye contact. I really did not mean to start crying towards the end of my speech. It was just kinda emotional for me to talk about everything that happened... especially in front of all my other classmates. I felt I lost eye contact and a good tone after that. Overall I am glad we ended on this speech as this one has become my favorite speech next to my minute of fame speech.

    1. I really enjoyed your speech Sarah, I think it was very relatable and easy to connect to for the audience. I agree that staying positive is something everybody should do, and nobody should compare themselves to people on TV or in magazines. Even though you got emotional towards the end, I think that only showed that you were really connected with your topic and had invested time and thought into writing it. It's not easy to share things like that with a class of people, so good job on that. Your eye contact was decent in the beginning, it was obvious you had read it through a couple of times. This was a strong speech to end on for you, good job!

    3. Sarah, your speech really hit me hard. What you talked about really inspired me and to talk about something like that really took a lot of confidence. This was one of my favorite speeches of yours!

You made pretty good eye contact and you made some nice gestures. You said that you didn't mean to start crying, but in the end I think it really pushed across your point and got us to pay more attention. Overall, you did a really nice job Sarah. You made a great improvement from the beginning of the semester.

  8. Even though I was not super prepared for this speech, I thought it went pretty well. I feel like that's because it's one of the easier speeches to write. I thought my eye contact and adressing the audience went a lot better than my persuasive speech and it was easier to do so because it feels as if you're taking to people more personally. This was probably one of my favorite speeches and it was a good one to end on.

    1. Zack this was probably my favorite out of all your speeches. I liked the powerpoint, it added enough interest but didn't distract from you talking, you kept your points up there simplified enough. Your eye contact very obviously improved from your previous speeches and you also threw in lots of gestures. I think you did a good job and this was by far one of your strongest speeches of the year.

    2. Zack I really liked your speech. I was inspired by it, it made me realize how people think things are cool etc just to get better cred. You had a great presentation that was simple and easy to follow along to. You have improved so much over the semester. This speech was a great way to end the semester. Overall nice job.

    3. Zack, I really like how you started out your speech by asking a question of us about the definition on cool. When you think about it, a lot of people say that they aren't being cool and that they are just being themselves when in reality, they might not even know who they really are on the inside. You did a great job at inspiring the class to take a second look at our own lives. Your eye contact was really good and you didn't stay behind the podium the whole time. You made lots of gestures and you made really good use of pauses. Overall really well done on this speech and overall this semester.

    4. I think this was one of your best speeches, Zack. You spoke about an extremely relevant subject and it honestly made me think a lot about my definition of "cool". Your eye contact was great and you had some really good gestures. I'm sure I'm safe to say that this speech really made the whole class think about society and how they perceive "cool". Overall, really great job on this speech and this whole semester.

  9. I felt that this speech was my most confident one. It was hard to actually inspire that audience, seeing that there wasn't really any common ground at all so there was no connection. I thought that the length of my speech was good, and that I talked more slowly and clearly than most of my other speeches. I think that the song that was added was a good "boost" to what I was saying so I think that helped a little. Overall I was glad that I got to show the bowling side of me and hopefully everybody learned something new in this speech.

    1. I really liked this speech. I knew that you were a good bowler already. It was cool to hear you talk about how you would go to practice a lot and eventually you would get asked how to bowl properly by adults or bowlers with experience. It has to be cool when that happens. Nice job with your speech. I also liked that you had the song behind your voice to make things more dramatic.

    2. Your speech was one of my favorite inspirational speeches. In the beginning your flow was very good and it was fun to listen to. Even though I rarely bowl, I was inspired to try to bowl more and to be better at it. Also, I really like how you said that whatever you do, do your best at it, I really liked that idea.

    3. Vincent, you did a really good job on this speech. You slowed yourself down and let us all hear what you were saying. The slowed pace really allowed us to hear the full extent of your voice and understand more about what you were saying. Your topic was a little on the strange side for an inspirational speech but in the end you really hit a home run. The bible verse that you used was really well fit for the way you were going with your topic. When you asked me whether you should use music I thought the cost might outweigh the benefits a little but in the end it really did add a whole new touch to your speech. Really well done and way to go with your gut. Nice job this semester in speech.

I also do not think my speech was that engaging. I did not realize that this was my last speech and I felt I ended poorly. In the end I feel I could have done better and I wish I would've gotten better this semester than I feel I did

  11. I really felt like this speech was very fast because I practiced it the night before and it took me about 5 minutes. When I read in class it took me a couple over 4 minutes. I felt very tired going into this speech because it was the day we got back from break and I didn't get great sleep that night either. I also thought that the quotes that I had used were very good and strong. Overall, I thought did okay on this speech and I didn't mind this speech to much.

    1. I really like your video, that is so motivational. I think your voice and tone is more clear and paced this time. Although it was not perfect, but I can see many inspirational things from your speech. Good job

    2. Dylan, I really liked your speech. Showing the video really helped get your point across and it stuck in my mind. You did a pretty good job at eye contact and your volume and pronunciation was really good until the end when it dropped a little bit but it was still understandable so we could still see where you were going with it. Overall, you did a great job on this speech and you really improved from your intro speech at the beginning of the year. Nice job.

    3. I actually liked your speech a lot. You used pauses really well and has some really great eye contact. The use of the video was good since it helped bring your point across. You spoke at a good, easy pace and we could all understand you very well. It was great to see how far you've come this semester. Great job.

  18. I thought this speech was the best speech I did. I felt confident in this speech. I really hope the class was inspired by my speech, as it was on prayer. My eye contact for this speech wasn't the greatest because I was reading from a script word for word. I feel as though i could've practiced just a little bit more, then it wouldn't have been as choppy. i did feel as if i rushed it a bit but yet went over time, I also did not have many gestures in this speech due to reading. Overall I thought this speech went well.

    1. Hailey, you did a great job on this speech. You looked like you were commanding the army this time rather than taking your first steps. You didn't have much eye contact but in the end what you said made up for it. You used pauses really well and you didn't seem like you were rushing through it but it did seem a little fast. Overall, nice job on this speech, great way to end the semester.

    2. I thought your speech was very well said. I noticed how you memorized some parts in your speech and that was really great. It ensured eye contact that was needed. You did speak a little fast, but near the end, you really slowed down and that was great. You have come really far this semester and it was great to see how much you've grown since your first speech! Great job.

  19. I learned a lot from this speech. Everyone did very well. There are some words that I still could not pounce it right. I think the most things that I gained are not only the speech skills, but there are also many people's good speeches and stories that inspired me a lot. I got over the speech freight in this speech. I was not so in tense when I was making mistakes. Instead of I will get over it.

  20. I thought this speech went really well for me. As always, I went with the manuscript method, but I wish I would have memorized at least some part of it just to make sure that eye contact was there the whole time. This was honestly one of my favorite speeches. Due to our ability to pick basically anything, I thought bullying would be a great topic. I really liked that I chose to make a bit of a rhyme scheme because I felt it made my words a bit more powerful. Overall, I do still need to work on better eye contact, but I thought this speech was one of my best ones!
